    Project Description

    Marine concrete structures suffer seawater corrosion, especiall
    y under tidal splash zone, which
    causes spalling concrete and corroded rebars. The sea-p
    ort operator decided to stop further
    corrosion and strengthen the corroded structures such as slabs, b
    eams and pile caps.
    Special formulated CFRP system was used to wrap the structure to stop
    further seawater corrosion.
    Mini sensors were embedded in the CFRP wrap to monitor corrosion r
    ate and evaluate corrosion
    levels. Fibre optic sensors were embedded in the CFRP wrap to m
    onitor structural behaviours of
    the strengthened concrete structures.
